Flit-Path scholars kicked off the 2018/2019 academic year with a Social event on September 6th, 2018. In addition to scholars socializing and networking with each other they also attended presentations regarding the academic activity pathway choices available to them for the new academic year (Internship, Research, or Entrepreneurship). Oscar Rodriguez, accomplished business founder, CEO, and angel investor presented the Entrepreneurship pathway by introducing his entrepreneurial start-up course and describing the basics of what a potential start-up founder would need to do to get their tech business off the ground. Hussain Frosh, co-founder of CareerFair+, is a potential Industry Mentor for Flit-Path scholars; he presented about his career progression since his undergraduate studies and offered advice on resumes, interviewing, salary negotiation, and researching potential employers. Dr. Pamela Wisniewski, Research Mentor, presented her Socio-Technical Interaction Research Lab (STIR Lab) and described what it would be like for scholars to work with her on research opportunities.
